Knit & Purl

In addition to making me these awesome Bella mittens, my friend Heather, was also gracious enough to help me with one of my 101 in 1001 goals, and she taught me to knit. A month after learning the basic knit and purl, I reveal to you my very first scarf:

Ribbed Mini Scarf by Nebula Designs (click link for pattern)

I (accidentally) went off pattern, and there are a TON of mistakes, but I'm proud of myself nonetheless and will wear my creation with pride this winter.

I'm so happy to add knitting to my craft repertoire. It's incredibly relaxing, and I love that I can be productive with my hands while I'm vegging in front of the TV. So friends and family, beware! You may be receiving a scarf instead of a scrapbook for Christmas this year. J

I love it! Really, I said it on FB but I wanted to come say it here too. Now you need to knit a blue one and you'll have your gator spirit covered!

I'm seriously so pleased with this. Such a great job on your first project! Remember -- don't be intimidated by new skills in new patterns, just look those skills up on the Internet. Web videos totally revolutionized my ability to boldly choose new and difficult patterns.

I realize I've commented before but I wanted to let you know that GFP (who is STILL AWAKE AT 10:30 at night!!) just randomly told me that she wanted to learn how to knit. So I told her I have a friend who knits and she wanted to see. So here were again! She thinks it's "very pretty" and wants you to teach her how to knit "when I'm bigger."

Thanks for all the lovely comments, ladies!

Leigh, your comment made my morning. Tell that beautiful Glitter Fairy Princess of yours that I would love to teach her. :)
