Why Cleveland, you ask? For starters, it's the halfway point between our two residences. Secondly, it's home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yeah, you heard me. This knitter, scrapbooker, domestic goddess-wannabe also loves her some Aerosmith and Metallica. Their CDs are right next to my Broadway show tunes and Tori Amos collection.
We stayed at the The Arcade, a beautiful 1890s mercantile, renovated into a Hyatt, which now sits on top of the stores and eateries.
On Saturday, we went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which was absolutely PACKED. Nothing says Rock n' Roll like standing in the ticket line for an hour.
Don't we look hardcore rock n' roll in our capris?
Unfortunately, you're not allowed to take pictures inside the museum, so I can't show you Elvis's awesome purple Cadillac, Slash's famous top hat, or Joe Perry's sexy-tight leather pants, but fortunately this
creepy monstrosity touching tribute was not off limits.
And yes, there were lots of white-gloved fans running around that day.
One of my favorite things about the museum was their Video Killed the Radio Star exhibit. It's all 11-minute video montage depicting the history of MTV- you know, when MTV was music television, as opposed to the reality channel it's become (thank you, Real World).
After oohing and aahing over Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA jeans, we headed to an Irish pub called Flannery's, where I seriously had the best mac n' cheese EVER. Instead of macaroni, they use penne pasta, and they serve it in this incredibly rich gouda cheese sauce, topped with Italian breadcrumbs. Hubby almost lost his hand trying to steal some for himself.
That night, we went to Pickwick and Frolic, where we saw the hilarious Mike Lukas and Costaki Economopoulos (I checked that spelling several times and still probably got it wrong) and concluded our trip with a LOL good time at Howl at the Moon (where we were flashed amidst the OH-IO nonsense... little did the Buckeyes know, they did the Gator chomp to Crocodile Rock, mwah hah hah).
What? Cheryl is wearing appropriate-for-outside-of-the-house clothes and make-up? Quick- take a picture!
And thus concluded our rockin' good time in Cleveland.
