Wordless Wednesday #3

Nothing says Thanksgiving to me like split pea soup.

I know that might sound weird since this item is not usually among the traditional Turkey Day fare, but I remember waking every Thanksgiving morning to the sound of broadway show tunes from the Macy's Day Parade and the smell of split pea soup. It's what we ate for lunch, hours before Thanksgiving dinner. I quickly grew to anticipate the soup lunch almost as much as the starchy side dishes of the evening. And so, as I'm hosting my very first Thanksgiving, I'm sticking to tradition with the small exception of making it the day before. Even though you can't be here, Mom, the kitchen at least smells like you are. J

Happy Thanksgiving!

That dish looks good. I hope that gets on the table on Thursday. I want to say "thanks" to you and Allan for having me and being just wonder hosts. I have enjoyed my stay and feel comfortable at your new home.
