Aren't four-day weekends the absolute best? I could definitely get used to this schedule.
Hubby and I had a low-key, nontraditional Thanksgiving this year. With our anti-Valentine's Day ritual and our celebration of Chrismukkah (more on that later), it was really just a matter of time before our quirkiness touched Thanksgiving. Don't get me wrong, we're in no way anti-Thanksgiving - it's one of my favorite holidays, in fact - but with it just being the two of us, one of whom (me) no longer eats turkey, it didn't make sense to do the traditional feast. So I pulled a Marlene (it's true that you eventually turn into your mother) and ordered Chinese for our Thanksgiving meal. ☺
Friday was absolutely blissful. While everyone else was elbowing one other at Black Friday sales, I was curled up on the couch reading. ALL day. Don't ask me what I was reading, because I won't admit to it. But let's just say that if you like Twilight fanfic and haven't yet read hunterhunting's Clipped Wings and Inked Armor, go bookmark it. Now. I'll wait.
Today I actually got off my tush and was so productive that Hubby was ready to check if I had been possessed by a Visitor. As I touched on earlier, Hubby and I celebrate Chrismukkah. It's exactly what it sounds like: a mix of Christmas and Chanukah. Today was our day to find the perfect "Chrism" tree. After getting one that does not resemble the one in A Charlie Brown Christmas (unlike ours from last year), I put on my Santa hat, cranked up the Christmas tunes, and began flitting around the house, decorating every surface, much like a Who (trim up the tree with Christmas stuff like bingle balls and whofloo fluff... trim every blessed needle on the blessed Christmas tree, Christmas comes tomorrow - trim you, trim me!). Hubby observed (publicly): Pretty sure I'm married to the only Jew that gets _this_ excited about Christmas. It's true, but it should be noted that I get equally excited about Chanukah. As my dad pointed out, I get excited about almost every holiday (insert his joke about my observing National Orthodontics Day).

Today I also watched Tim Tebow play his last home and regular season game. I may or may not have been sniveling when he came out of the tunnel onto the field. And when he made his last touchdown. And when he walked off the field for the last time. And when he sang the alma matter. Timmy, it has been so fun watching you. Your passion is incomparable. College football won't be the same without you. Don't let the NFL take away your sweetness. And please sign with a team that has good colors so that I'm not forced to wear an ugly shirt next year.

Your tree is a beauty. We put up ours today & decided on a real one for the first time in years. Holidays that are mixed in religiousness are the best. Glad you're doing the two.
Your Chrismakkuh decorations look great. I love that big tree. We have a pencil tree thanks to our tiny home, but I kinda secretly love it. ;)
This is a charming post :) Happy Chrismukkah!

PRICELESS...
Love the decorations too btw... but I obviously focused on the TEBOW part of your post. :)
I love it! Maybe I'll get a menorah this year, too!!! (Though I'd need one that came with instructions, since we have no Jewish blood on either side of our family.) And, I'm thinking of how I can add a permanent tribute to Tebow on my blog...he's so fabulous. And I don't care if FireDaddy does swear that he's sure Tebow's "not as innocent as we all make him out to be - after being a star quarterback at a school like Florida for four years". Whatever. I like him. :) Go Gators!!!
I forgot to mention!! (got distracted by Timmy) - LOVE the new window behind the Chrism tree! :)
Chrismakkuh!!! I love it!!! And I love that you both embrace both traditions! Fabulous!
i just love all of your decor!!! I think it's awesome you celebrate Chrismakkuh too :)
