December Daily 1: The (not-so) Perfect Tree

Scrapbookers have been all a-Twitter about this year's December Daily, a project that's near and dear to the hearts of Ali Edwards and Shimelle. Traditionally speaking, you make an album/journal ahead of time and then record each day of December through Christmas with pictures and journaling. As we've already established, I'm not very traditional. Nor am I very timely. So I'm sure it will come as no surprise that I did not create an album. This, though, doesn't have to prevent me from enjoying the same memory-keeping as my scrappy friends, especially when I have a blog that can easily record my daily thoughts and pictures. And if I want, I can always turn the posts into album pages at a later date. Long story short, this is my way of telling you that you're going to be subject to a post a day this month.

The (not-so) Perfect Tree
This was the year that we were going to find the perfect tree. No more boosting the baby tree on a table so it could be seen through the window. This year, our Chrism tree would be worthy of the beautiful ornaments we've collected through the years. It would also be pre-lit because my patience usually wears thin by the second string of lights, resulting in a tree so unbecoming that even Charlie Brown would put it out on the curb.
After four stores and the better part of a morning, we found the perfect tree. Or so we thought.

Not 24 hours after admiring our tree's perfection, one whole section of lights decided to stop working. We found a customer service number to call, and we will, but I have a sinking feeling the fix is going to be to dismantle the tree, exchange it, and start again. I love decorating for the holidays, but with so much else to do, I'm not sure I love it enough to do it twice.

I did, however, find time to decorate my blog header for the holidays. You know, priorities.

ha! i love your tree-my tree was decorated by a 5 and 3 year old, so all of the ornaments are on the bottom left corner lol-the rest of the tree have all of the same ornaments grouped-logical for little minds-gotta love it-now my charlie brown sized tree is lopsided and my santa topper is almost on the floor.

I LOVE YOUR HEADER-definitely a priority :)

I love your tree, regardless. That is frustrating, though. :) One suggestion: do NOT resort to trying to light it with your menorah candles! LOL! And your header is VERY cute! Did you do this yourself or enlist help?

Geez, priorities, I tell ya! The blog header is awesome! I had no idea you designed that yourself to begin with, let alone find the time to make it all holiday'd up! :-) I love my artificial tree - but it's not pre-lit. It never fails that lights die every year. I'm also taking one from ya with the blog every day for dec. daily and make it into an album if and when I get a chance - later! hehe!

I haven't tried a pre-lit yet but have been tempted... I am guessing they don't come with extra bulbs and fuses... That would be a quick fix... I'm sure it's not that easy.

Your header looks great Cheryl and your tree is beautiful! I too have a HORROR story about the lights I put on my tree this year, but I wont go into that. Ha! :D

It's like you got 2 trees for the price of one! That's my fear with a pre-lit tree. Hopefully you'll find a quick fix.

Love the holiday additions!
