Set it Sunday - Won't you join me?

When I decided to abandon my 101 in 1001 project, it was to focus on more short-term goals and only a FEW long-term ones. I tend to spend the latter half of Sunday dreading the start of the week and all I have to do, often neglecting thoughts of what I want to do. And really, isn't it possible to fit in a little "me time" each week? This got me thinking... What if I focused my thoughts at the end of the weekend more on what I want to do? Would I approach the week with less dread and more excitement? Thus the inception of Set it Sunday. (The "Set it, and forget it" infomercial was in my mind when this idea was percolating, but I'd have to modify it to "Set it; don't forget it." It doesn't have quite the same ring.)

Each Sunday, I'm going to set a personal goal for the week – either a short-term desire or a step toward accomplishing a longer-term goal. Then, I'll reflect on the goal the following Sunday before setting a new one for the upcoming week. Why am I doing this on my blog? Because there is accountability when you make your goals public knowledge.

It's no secret that my number 1 long-term goal is to focus upon the book I've been writing. I'm extremely proud to have almost 22,000 words written, but it's probably going to take me that many more words to finish telling the tale. With everything else that's been going on lately, it's safe to say that I've completely fallen out of my groove. This week, I want to get back in it and have at least 2,000 more words drafted by this time next Sunday.

This is a great idea and I'd love to join you. Right now my desktop computer is at work undergoing repairs and I'm limited to the traveling laptop, so I can't download the button or do anything. I'm going to star this in google reader and come back to it when I have my desktop back!

Hi Cheryl! I love this idea :-) I've posted my goal on my blog http://kjoannou.blogspot.com . My goal is to blog this week because my poor blog is very neglected lately. Good luck with your goal!

Thank you so much for visiting Food Floozie -- I might never have found your site otherwise, and I am SO glad I did! I don't know if I'm ready for the public commitment of stating a goal out loud for all to see; sometimes it's all I can do to get through a day's clutter. But my goal for this week is to finish my post about bagels and blintzes which, sad to say, I've been working on for a week (hanging my head in shame!). Since I've teased you with hints of Jewish food in my last post, I'll promise to finish this one and get it up SOON ... :)
